Abide
03:41
|
|||
In the fresh early morning
while the dew hangs heavy in the air
November air
I was looking for an answer
that would make me a survivor here
I couldn’t help but stare
Cause the trees were all singing
of a slow steady wisdom
that was
before the earth
The lines in the face
of the mountains far away
stared me down
with so little change
They said
Abide
like branches in the vine
evergreen trees all the time
though the seasons change
though the seasons change
Other trees
may fall around us
wind and flame and rain surround us
in Your love our souls remain
in Your love our souls remain
Have you heard the sparrows singing
have you seen them pulling worms up in the rain?
Are you still afraid?
From the gentle hand of Papa
comes the breath that proves His grace
don’t be afraid
And the trees were all singing
of a slow steady Word
that is
with God
Those lines in the face
of the mountains far away
still stare me down
with so little change

Only One
03:10
|
|||
Have you ever stared straight up at the sky
and seen the clouds
come floating by?
We’re so like clouds
just wisps in the wind
blowing around
Jesus is the only one
that can catch the clouds
and keep them in
Have you ever watched an ocean wave fall
watch it live
and die so fast?
We’re so like waves
with reckless abandon
we crash around
Jesus is the only one
that can tame the sea
He calms us down
Have you ever watched a tree in the wind
seen it bend
heard it creak?
We’re so like trees
exposed to the elements
our loads are too much
Jesus is the only one
that can lift your head
He carries your pain

Lone Bird
03:17
|
|||
I watched a lone bird flying home at dusk
Something ‘bout watching those power lines sway
in the cool summer breeze at the end of the day
Seventeen sparrows watching one fly away
heaven’s calling hard on my heart
Life is like the slow steady burn of a candle wick
cold wind kisses us goodnight
I watched a lone bird flying home at dusk
Something ‘bout staring at the cold black sky
it sings a silent music that shines a sacred light
Whispers of a God that won’t ever be quiet
one night I saw the northern lights
Who is this God that makes light shows in the sky?
I’ve never seen Your face but you blow me away
I watched a lone bird flying home at dusk
Something ‘bout sleeping all these miles from home
waking up at three to that train whistle blowing
Cold clean air breathing into my nose
this world ain’t my home
What is life if it’s not full of love?
What is love if we don’t freely give?
I watched a lone bird flying home at dusk

Healing
04:38
|
|||
Inside my hand-me-down suitcase
there are newspapers full of my past
I carried them north but they’re heavy
and they put too much strain on my back
So I dropped them halfway to Seattle
yeah I dropped them and only looked back
to watch as they fell by the wayside
and I lifted my eyes as they crashed
The moon and the ocean were talking
they said healing would come in time
It’s been a while since we knew hope was lost
every now and again I still cry
But I dropped them halfway to Seattle
I’ve been trying my best to move on
To surrender a dream is a heavy, heavy thing
And you know what you lost when it’s gone
honey, know what you lost when it’s gone
That fresh oak tree outside my window
bleeds sap from its scars just like mine
The wind and the rain made it fight for its life
but I’ve watched it come out stronger every time
So I’m fixing my eyes on my savior
He knows all the scars that I’ve made
I’ll fight hard as an oak tree
cause there’s joy in the life that He gave
Healing is a journey
will you walk with me
It might be miles and miles and miles
before these ocean eyes can see
I know Jesus is a healer
will you walk with me
And remind me that He’s got a reason for all
of this heartbreak I’m feeling

Home
02:52
|
|||
This is home for a while
This is home for a while
A little while I’m here
A little while and I’m gone
This is home for a while
The rain clouds form up above
for the first time in two months
But that’s ok
it reminds me where I’m from
This is home for a while
I see the seine upon the deck
threatening the seasons catch
The Valiant rocks
back and forth to my song
This is home for a while
I miss a girl I don’t know
I miss a girl I don’t know
A thousand miles from here
she’s waiting on the shore for me
I miss a girl I don’t know
We are just passing through
We are just passing through
A little longer
we’ll be gone oh Lord
This is home for a while

You Have My Heart
02:27
|
|||
Eyes hang heavy like a rainy cloud over the Cascades
Heart beats steady like a folk guitar being strummed out in the rain
Steam rolls off my coffee cup disappears into the day
Oh Jesus, You have my heart today
These calloused hands you gave me work hard at this trade
Late nights and early mornings and the middle of the day
I always feel You closest when I’m running out of strength
Oh Jesus, You have my heart today
You’re all that I find beautiful
The only one that healed my soul
Always on my mind you know
Papa guide my steps on home
I find these shorelines etched by the jagged mark of time
I see the corners of my face develop the same lines
I make a point to read the Word and let it change my life
Oh Jesus, You have my heart tonight
